According to case farming software owners, bots make up about 60% of the CS2 player base.
This number comes from multiple sources. One case farming site alone has 15,000 registered users, with each user running up to 10 bot accounts. The largest bot network contains 50,000 accounts.

Steam's trading data supports these claims.
In October 2024, players sold 14 million cases. With an average of 4 sales per account, this means about 3.5 million sellers were active. This represents 13% of all CS2 players that month.
You won't find bots everywhere in CS2.
They mainly exist in casual game modes, especially Deathmatch servers. Premier mode and Competitive matchmaking have strong protection against bots.
The number of bots stays constant throughout the day. This means you'll see fewer bots during peak playing hours when more real players are online.
Valve knows about these bots but hasn't removed them all. Some case farming owners say this helps keep the trading system working well.
However, Valve does take action against bot farms, making it risky for owners to run large bot networks.
To play without bots, join Premier mode or use FACEIT servers. These modes have the best protection. Also, play during peak hours when the ratio of real players to bots is highest.
The current bot situation is better than before. In past years, when AFK farming worked, bots made up about 20% of players.
Now, with stricter rules and manual bans, fewer people risk using bot farms.
